The pre-saturated system ensures appropriate fiber-to-resin content ratios to deliver reliable performance in restoring pipeline integrity on lines with complex geometry.
- ViperSkin is a product for rather special use cases, and most applications do not require the properties of ViperSkin.
- For most applications, the related SynthoGlass line is the perfect fit.
- SynthoGlass is also high-strengh, long-lasting and more affordable of a repair option. It is Fiberglass/Polyurethane based, whereas ViperSkin is CarbonFiber/Polyurethane based.
- Moreover, ViperSkin is highly-recommended to be installed/applied by trained engineering professionals. Because only when it's applied following the strict guidelines, preparation, and post-application procedures is the extreme strength even realized. A typical repair job will likely not realize teh full potential strength that is possible by using ViperSkin
- And therefore, this is largely why the related SynthoGlass product line is a more popular repair kit. It is way easier to apply.
Feature | Benefit |
Moisture-cured polyurethane resin | Factory saturation of moisture-cured polyurethane resin reduces composite field preparation time by more than 50% |
Factory-saturated fiber | Factory saturation ensures the right fiber-to resin ratio with constant strength and mechanical properties |
Full engineering consultation and support | Easy application in any conditions, including damp or sweating pipes and in submerged environments |
Non-shielding | No heating or post-curing steps necessary |
Can be applied to any geometry including, but not limited to elbows, tees, and flanges | Suitable for irregular shapes and geometries |
Conforming Standards: ASME PCC-2, ASME B31, ISO 24817, DOT, API, and CSA Z662 standards for nonmetallic reinforcing solutions | Can be used on lines (pipes) of any diameter |
Applications
- Transmission and distribution pipelines
- Energy risers and subsea structures
- Process piping: chemicals, oil, gases, water, and steam
- Mechanical dents and defects
- Girth welds on vessels and pipelines
- Straight pipelines, elbows, tees, and flanges

Surface preparation
and profiling shall promote continuous intimate contact between the CFRP system and pipe by providing a clean, smooth, and circumferential surface. Surface preparation shall be in accordance with SSPC-SP1 “Solvent Cleaning” and SSPC-SP10 / NACE 2 “Near White Blast Cleaning” 1-3 mil surface roughness (25-75 microns). If an existing coating is present, roughen to degloss. The Viper-Skin composite repair system is a bond-critical composite repair system requiring a strong adhesive bond between the clean pipe and the Viper-Skin system.
